I made a few stars at Christmas time... I had never even thought about using them as coasters! What an excellent idea!

This is a very simple and nice coaster, but I did notice a typo in your corner instructions-shouldn't that read 2dc, ch2, 2dc instead of 2dc, ch3, 2dc?

Dragonflymomof2 said...

Yes!! Thank you for letting me know about the typo, I will get that fixed! :)

I love your work. I'm just an advanced beginner in crocheting and learning as I go. I have a (probably dumb) question about R3. It says [+DC in 2, SS in next st, DC in 2+, Work Corner] 4Xs. Does that mean one DC in two different stitches then SS? When I finish R2, I'm only one DC away from the corner space.

Not a dumb question at all! Yes DC in next 2sts, then slip stitch in next st. I hope that makes sense. I am sooo tired right now.

So glad I found you, I had a look at your Snowfall 12" square and then just had to have a look at all of your others. Thank you so much for making your patterns available. "One day" I shall make myself a king size bed blanket and I can see it now with some of your lovely patterns.

I've never used a patter with a + in it before, what does it mean?

Dragonflymomof2 said...

The + in my patterns mean to Repeat +to+ once more. I am in the process of re-writing my patterns out.

I must be a beginner, cause I have never seen directions like this. I don't think I'll try it.

I debated on approving this last comment, but did so to point out that I took this as you being rude! If you do not understand something why not ask?? Why do you need to point out that you think my pattern is too hard to read? I have seen many patterns both online and bought that are written out in many different ways/styles. I do not think I need to try to insult the designer by insinuating that the pattern is just not written well. I am learning as I go about designing......and my patterns may not be written to every individuals preferences, or written out to be exactly like another designers way of writing. I have my own unique style and I offer my patterns free online. So I think your comment especially being "Anonymous" was out of line. I would have been more than happy to help you out with anything you didn't understand. I did, however change a few things to make it more "normal" I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I am very frustrated when I offer my patterns free online then I get people trying to tell me how to write, or insinuating I don't know how.

I understand exactly what your saying. I no Maurer what can read patterns to save my life unless there super easy, which is rare. I have been able to make my own patterns and I write as I go to fit my style of understanding. I appreciate the timer you took to make and share your beautiful work.

thank you very much.

Your welcome :-)

I love the pattern but having difficulty understanding the instructions on rd2 after you have finished the 4 corners.

Hi Alice, please refer back to the pattern. I have re-written it some to hopefully make it easier to read. If not, feel free to email me.

I am struggling with round 3 on your simple star pattern. I know it will be simple once I see it but so far, I can't figure it out. When I slip stitch to join at the end of rnd 2, I have only one stitch until I am at the chain 2 space. It says [+DC in 2, SS in next st, DC in 2+, Work Corner] 4Xs. Is it possible to do a video of the transition from round 2 to round 3? I really like the finished product if I can just get there.

After I slept on it, it came to me! Woke up early with the answer to my question and it was a matter of forgetting to repeat the BEG CORNER from the rnd before. Thank you for this cute, simple star coaster.

I am so sorry I missed your original post, it was in my spam folder for some reason waiting to be approved. I am glad you figured out, but please accept my apologies.

Hi. I'm having a hard time understanding the round 3 instructions. Is there any way you can make the wording simpler?

What a cute pattern. And easy to follow. I've tried some other star patterns and was confused but this one is much better. Thank you! I'm including them in one of the little backpacks/bags I make. I think they will be a cute addition. Thank you again not only for the pattern but your awesome site. Have a great day!

Designing is difficult, but not half as difficult as writing out the directions!!!!! You are doing a great job. Keep up the good work. You will get better and better. Hope we do too!
