SPECIAL STS/NOTES: Ch3 counts as a st. “Sts” means any dc, sc, or chsps. POPCORN: Uses 4 or 5dc in st specified, remove hook, insert in 1st dc, and grab your last dc, and pull through.
Row 1: CH5, join to form a loop. *CH6, SLPST into loop.* x4
Round 2: SS into ch6 loop, ch1 6SC in same loop. 6SC in next 3 loops. Join in 1sc. (24sc)
Round 3: CH1, SC in same spot, SC1, in next ST do 2SC, CH2, 2SC. *SC5, do 2SC,CH2,2SC in corner* x3, SC3, join to 1st SC. (36sc)
Round 4: Loosely SS over to ch2. Ch3 (counts as 1st dc) 3DC in same sp. [+Sk 2sc, SS in next sc, sk next sc, 5DC in next sc, skip 1sc, SS in next sc, skip 2sc+ In next ch2 sp, work 4DC] 3Xs. Then repeat ++ once. Join in top of ch3. (36dc and 8ss)
Round 5: SS twice, CH3, DC, CH2, 2DC in same spot *+CH1, DC in SS, CH1, SC in 3rd DC of shell in previous round, CH1, DC in SS, CH1,+ 2DC, CH2, 2DC between 2nd and 3rd DC of previous round* do ** 3 times and ++ once more, join to BEG CH3. (4SC, 24DC)
Round 6: SS into ch2 sp and work a ch 3, DC, ch2, 2DC. (+ DC in next 5 sts (this includes the ch1 sps) work a popcorn in next sc, DC in next 5 sts+. In next ch2 sp work 2DC, CH2, 2DC) 3Xs. Then ++ once more and join in top of beg ch 3. (56dc & 4 popcorns)
Note: If your square measures more than 5.5” do SC in Round 7 instead of HDC.
Round 7: CH2, HDC in BLO of same ST, and in next ST. In corner do 2HDC, CH2, 2HDC. *In BLO, HDC across, doing 2HDC, CH2, 2HDC in each corner.* Fasten off and weave in ends.
