12” with an H Hook & Worsted Weight Yarn, in 2-4 colors.  A & B, if using 4 colors, follow color changes in parenthesis (A,B,C,& D)
NOTES: Bolded print: Repeat in pattern. “STS”=Stitches: Any st or chsps. Long Diagonal FPdc (LDFPDC): Yo, insert hook from front to back to front again around the post of indicated stitch & pull up loop level of current round, (yo & pull through two loops on hook) 2x.  HdcVst:  (hdc, ch1, hdc) in st/sp specified. 2dccl: (yo hk, pull up a lp in st/sp, yo, draw thru 2 loops)2x, yo and draw through 3 lps.  VIDEOS: Links are posted at the end of the rnd instructions, please note that in rnd 4 the ldfpdc are done to the left of your work, video shows it, but says to the right.

Rnd 1: With color A, (A) Ch4, join into a ring.  Ch1, work 12 sc into ring. Slst into top of 1st sc . (12scs)  

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in same stitch, 2 dc in each stitch around, join with sl st in top of ch3, 4 colors: use (B) (24dcs)  

Ldfpdc is worked back to the right of your work.
Rnd 3: Ch3 (counts as dc) [*Ldfpdc (see notes), around dc, 3 stitches back in rnd 2, dc in same dc worked before,*  dc in next 3dc]7x.   Repeat *to*, dc in last 2sts,  join with slst in top of ch3. ( 40sts) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwG5YYY4qBM

Ldfpdc is worked to the left of your work, so the normal direction.  
Rnd 4: Ch3, dc in 2sts.  [Ldfpdc in same dc of rnd 2 that you worked the ldfpdc in, dc in 5sts]7x.  Ldfpdc in same dc of rnd 2 that you worked the ldfpdc , dc in last 2sts, join in ch3, 4 colors: use (C)  (48sts)

Rnd 5: Ch3, 2dc in same st.  Dc in 2sts, [*fptrc in the fp of rnd 3 (to the right),  fpdc in fp st of rnd 4 (to the left), dc in 2sts,*  3dc in next st, dc in next 2sts]7x, work *to* once,  join in ch3, 2 colors: use B.  (72sts)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtgKM_dPdtg

Rnd 6: Slst into the front loop only (flo) of next dc, ch3, 2dcflo in same st.  [*Dc in the flo of next 3dc, fpdc in next 2sts,  dc in the flo of next 3dc*, 3dc in flo of next dc]7x.  Repeat *to* once, join in ch3. Fasten off color.  (88dc), if you look at the back of your work though, you will have 72 back loops)   

This round will be worked in the unused back loops behind work.  Join new color in both loops of any 1st unused dc that you worked a fpdc around from previous round.  IF using 2 colors, use A, is using 4 colors, use (D)

Rnd 7: Ch4, 3trc in same st, ch2, 4trc in next dc loops.  [Hdc in next 2 unused bl, (sk next bl, hdc in next bl)2x, sk bl, work a hdc dec over next two dc st, (sk lp, hdc in next lp)2x, sk next lp, hdc in next 2 bl, working in both loops of next 2dc work 4trc in next dc loops, ch2, 4trc in next dc loops]4x. Omitting last corner of trc sts, join in top of ch4.  (32trc, 36hdc)  

Rnd 8: Slst to ch2sp, (ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc) beg corner made,  in same sp.  [Sk 2trc, (hdcV-st in next st, sk one st)6x, hdcV-st,  sk 2trc, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) corner made, in next corner ch2sp]4x, omitting last corner, join to ch3, using 2 colors: use B, 4 colors: use (A) (24dc, 28vsts)  

Rnd 9: Slst  to ch2sp, beg corner in same sp,  [Ch1, sk3dc, (dcv-st in middle of hdcv-st, ch1)7x. Sk3dc, work corner in ch2sp]4x,  omitting last corner,  slst into top of ch3. (24dc, 28 dcv-st)   

Rnd 10: Slst to ch2sp, and beg corner.  [Ch1, sk1dc, dc in next dc, (ch1, sk next dc, dc in next sp)15x.  Ch1, sk1dc,  dc in next dc, ch1, sk1dc, corner in ch2sp.]4x, omitting last corner,  sl st in top of ch3. Fasten off color.  (92 dc, 80 ch)  

Rnd 11: Join new color: A or (C) in any corner ch2sp, ch1 (3sc) in same sp.  [Sk dc, sc in next dc, *(sk dc, sc in ch1sp)6x,  fptrc in 5th dc of the petal below in rnd 6*, Repeat *to* once more.  (Sk dc, sc in ch1sp)6x, skdc, sc in next dc, sk dc, 3sc in corner sp]4x, omitting last corner.  Join to first sc.  (100 total sts)   

Rnd 12: Slst into next sc, beg corner.  [Dc in 24sts across, working corner in next sc]4x, omitting last corner, join to ch3, using 4 colors: use (B) (120dc)  

Rnd 13: Slst over to ch2sp, beg corner.  [ (Ch1, sk 3dc, 3dc in sp after the 3rd dc)9x.  Ch1, sk 3dc, work corner in next ch2sp.]4x, omitting last corner, join to ch3,. (132dc)  

Rnd 14: Slst over to ch2sp, beg corner.  [Sk 3dc, (2dccl in next ch1sp, fptrc in 2nd dc of 3dc grouping)9x.  2dccl in ch1sp, sk 3dc, work corner in ch2sp]4x, omitting last corner, join to ch3, using 2 colors: use B, 4 colors: use (D)  

Rnd 15: Slst over to ch2sp, ch1, 3sc in same sp.  [sc between next 2dc, (sc in sp before and after cl st, bpdc in fp st)9x.  sc in sp before and after next cl, sc between next 2dc, (3sc) in next ch2sp]4x, omitting last 3sc corner, join to first sc.

It just amazes my how much color and the placing of the colors changes the whole look of the same design!

This is the most beautiful block I have seen! The colors are amazing and using different colors does change the whole look! This is the perfect block to make a lapghan for myself, (I am wheelchair bound), since my favorite color is the rainbow!!!

Beautiful. Only one problem, I can only get it to print up to round 6. I can't get it to print the bold black print under round 6 to the end of round 15.

Where do I find the patterns for squares for October, November,& December? I see they say 2014, so they must be here some where.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am really enjoying this square, however, on Row 6 the dc 3 in one stitch in the middle of the two dc3s is not written in the directions.
Thank you for making this pattern free to all of us. I appreciate it!
