HANGING CHRISTMAS BULB

Size: , Hook: H/5.0mm, Yarn: Worsted Weight in 2 colors: A: (.35oz) in Red or Green & B: (.4oz) in Silver or Grey.  Examples in pic: Blue one was made w/a thin sparkly yarn, made with two pieces.  Green one was made w/Red Heart and was stiff enough to make 1. See Note below after rnd 4. If you wanted you could also use 2 strands of yarn held together.

Notes:  Bold print: Repeated in pattern. Sts: Work in next st/chsp. Join: Join W/slst in beg st, unless otherwise stated.

Beg=Beginning    Ch=Chain    Slst=Slip Stitch    Sc=Single Crochet

Rnd 1: W/A, ch4, work 11 dc in 4th ch from hook, join.  (12dc)

Rnd 2: Ch3, dc in same st.  2dc in each st around, join.  (24dc)

Rnd 3: Ch3, dc in same st.  2dc in each st around, join. (48dc)
*See note below BEFORE working rnd 4

IF MAKING ONE PIECE:

Rnd 4: Ch3, dc in each st around, switch to B w/slst to join, continue to row 6.  (48dc)

*If you are using a stiff enough yarn, you can make just one piece and lightly stiffen it w/some spray starch or glue, if you don’t want to do this and want/need more stability to it, then for above directions, fasten off after rnd 4, and make a second piece using instructions below.

MAKING TWO PIECES:

Repeat Rnds 1-3 as above.

Rnd 4: Ch3, dc in each st around, join.  (48dc)

Put both pieces together w/wrong sides facing, work through both pieces.
Rnd 5: Ch1, sc in same st, sc in each st around, switch to B w/slst to join. (48sc)

Row 6: Ch1, sc in same st, [Fpdc in dc of rnd 4, sc in next sc of rnd 5)4x, fpdc in next dc of rnd 4. Ch1, turn. (5sc, 5fpdc)

Row 7: Sk first st, [Sc in next st, sk next st]Repeat across, ch1, turn.  (5sc)

Row 8: Sc in same st, [Fpdc in dc of row 6, sc in next st of row 7]Repeat across, ending w/fpdc.  Fasten off, weave in ends, use your silver/grey to weave into the middle, creating a loop with your yarn.
