NOTES: Bolded print: Repeat in pattern. “STS”=Stitches: Any st or chsps.  FPDC (Front Post Double crochet) st: This is worked around the post of dc/st indicated.

Bottom:
Rnd 1: Ch16, 4dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 11chs, 5dc in last ch, working on the opposite side of ch, dc in next 11chs, join in top of ch4.  (32dc)

Rnd 2: Ch3, fpdc in joining st.  (Dc in next dc, fpdc in same st)4x. +(Dc in next st, fpdc in next st)5x.  Dc in next st+. (Dc in next st, fpdc in same st)5x.  Repeat +to+ once & join to ch3.  (42dc)

Rnd 3: Ch3, fpdc in  joining st.  [Dc in next st, (dc, fpdc in next st)]4x, dc in next st.  +(Fpdc in next st, dc in next st)5x, fpdc in next st.+  (Dc, fpdc in same st),  [Dc in next dc, (dc, fpdc in next st)]4x, dc in next st.  Repeat +to+ once, join to ch3 (52dc)

Rnd 4: Ch1, sc in joining st, Sc in each dc around, placing a marker/bobby pin in the 48th st. Join to first sc.  (52sc)  Fasten off and weave in your ends.  

Top Circles (make 2)
Rnd 1: Ch4, work 9dc in 4th ch from hook, join to beg ch4.  (10dc)

Rnd 2: Ch3, fpdc in joining st.  (Dc,fpdc in ea st) around.  Join to ch3.  (20dc)

Rnd 3: Ch3, fpdc in joining st.  [Dc in next st, (dc, fpdc in next st)] Repeat around ending with a dc in last st, join to ch3.  (30dc)

Rnd 4: Ch1, sc in joining st.  Sc in each st around, join to first sc.  Fasten off and weave in ends.  (30sc)

Assembly:  This is basically your own interpretation of how you want your pieces together.  Keep in mind that your st counts might be off from mine, don’t worry about that.  Just remember that you do not want to work too much into the circle piece, as you want to make sure you have plenty of room when using it.    You will be working through both pieces, how I put mine together was this:  With right side facing you, and using your marked st, place one circle on the left side of your base, insert hook into a st that matches up with your marked st on base, and thru marked st, Ch1, sc in same st, and into next 20sts, then sc in 5sc of the base, put your next circle onto base and working through both pieces, sc in next 21sc, sc in last 5 sc of your base, join to the first sc.  Fasten off, weave in ends.

NOTES: Bolded print: Repeat in pattern. “STS”=Stitches: Any st or chsps. V-ST: scv-st=(sc, ch1, sc), hdcv-st= (hdc, ch1, hdc), dcv-st= (dc, ch1, dc) in st/sp  

Rnd 1: W/A, Ch4, slst in 1st ch to form ring. [Sc in ring, ch3, sc in ring]3x.  Slst in 1st sc. (6sc, 3ch3sp)  You will have 3 sides.   

Rnd 2: Slst in ch3sp, (ch3, 4dc in same sp).  [Sk sc, sc in next sc, (5dc) in ch3sp]2x. sk sc, sc in next sc,  join in in ch3.  Fasten off color A (15dc, 3sc)  

Rnd 3:  Join color B in any sc st, (ch4, 4trc) in same st.  [*Ch1, 2hdc in 3rd dc of 5dc group, ch1,* 5trc in next sc]2x.  Repeat *to* once, and join to ch4. (15trc. 6hdc)  

Rnd 4: Ch3, dc in next trc, 5dc in next trc, dc in next 2trc.  [*2sc in chsp, sc in next 2hdc, 2sc in chsp.*  Dc in 2trc, 5dc in next trc, dc in 2trc]2x.  Repeat *to* once & join to ch3. (27dc, 18sc)

Rnd 5: Ch1, fpdc in joining st.  Fpdc in next 3dc, 3fpdc in next dc, fpdc in next 4dc.  [Sc in next 6sc, fpdc in 4dc, 3 fpdc in next dc, fpdc in 4dc]2x.  Sc in last 6sc, join in top of first fpdc. Fasten off color B.  (33dc, 18sc)  

Rnd 6: Look behind your front post sts, see the 9 unused loops from rnd 4?  Join color A in the first of those sts.  Ch3, dc in same st, 2dc in next 3 loops, 3dc in next loop, 2dc in next 4 loops.  [Dc in next 6sc from rnd 5.  Going behind your work again & in the unused loops of rnd 4.  2dc in the next 4 loops, 3dc in next loop, 2dc in next 4 loops]3x.  Dc in last 6sc, join to ch3,  fasten off color A.  (75dc)   

Rnd 7: Join color B in any 3rd dc of the 6dc grouping, (ch3, 2dc) in joining st.  Ch2, 3dc in next dc.  [*Ch4, sk 5dc, sc in next dc, ch4, sk 5dc, in next dc work (3dc, ch2, 3dc), ch4, sk 5dc, sc in next dc, ch4, sk 5dc.*  3dc in next dc, ch2, 3dc in next dc]2x  Repeat *to* once then join.  (36dc, 6sc, 12ch4)   

Rnd 8: Slst to ch2sp,  (ch2, 2hdc, ch2, 3hdc) in same sp.  [*Ch2, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) (dc shell made)  in next sc, ch2*, (3hdc, ch2, 3hdc) (hdc shell made) in next ch2sp]5x  Repeat *to* once more, join in top of ch2. Fasten off color B. (36hdc, 36dc, 12ch2)   

Rnd 9: Join color A in the ch2sp between shells to right of where you joined last round. Ch4, dc in same sp (beg v-st).  [*Ch2, scv-st in next shell sp, ch2, dcv-st in sp between shells, ch2, hdcv-st in next shell sp, ch2*, dcv-st in sp between shells]5x.  Repeat *to* once, join to 3rd ch of beg ch4. (24 shells)   

Rnd 10: Slst into next ch1sp, ch4, (3trc, ch2, 4trc) in same sp, beg corner made.  [Sk next ch2sp, 2sc in next 9 ch sps, sk next ch2sp, in next ch1sp, work 4trc, ch2, 4trc, corner made]4x, omitting last corner, join in top of ch4.  Fasten off color A. (32trc, 72sc)   

Rnd 11: With color B join with sc in any corner ch2 space, 2sc in same sp. [Sc in next 26sts, 3sc in next ch2sp]3x. Sc in last 26sts, join to first sc. (116sc)   

Rnd 12: Slst in next sc, ch3, 4dc in same sc. [Dc in 2sc, (sk1, dcv-st in next sc, sk1, dc in 4sc)3x.  Sk1, dcv-st in next sc, sk1, dc in 2sc, 5dc in next sc.]4x, omitting last 5dc corner, join to ch3, fasten off color B. (116dc)  

Rnd 13: Join color A in any 3rd dc of corner 5dc group, ch3, 4dc in same st.  [Dc in next 32sts, 5dc in next st]4x, omitting last 5dc corner, join to ch3.  (148dc)  

Measure your square and determine if you need a sc, hdc, or dc round for 14.  I did two different sqs using similar yarns and had to do a sc for one, and a dc round for the next.

Rnd 14: Slst in next 2dc, ch1, 3sc in same st.  [Sc in 36dc, 3sc in next dc]4xs, omitting last corner.  Fasten off and weave in your ends.  (156sc)
