SYMBOLS OF LIFE MYSTERY SQUARE CAL 11-05-2012

I have recently designed 12-12" squares.  None of which have been posted as of yet.  I have had them tested and hopefully all and any mistakes were found.  I also talked with my testers who agreed that they would make a great mystery crochet a long.

These are very easy squares, all of them are done with double crochet and chain 1 stitches.  Each square is 10 rounds measuring 12" I and my testers used an H hook for all of them, they also used Worsted Weight yarn.  I used Red Heart yarn.   Please be advised that with any crochet work, your finished size depends on your own tension, hook size, and yarn as well.  So your square might come out bigger or smaller than 12" so you will need to adjust the square to the size you want.  Remember to take into consideration the type of yarn.  For example, with Red Heart, I made all 12 squares using this yarn in two solid colors.  One color was called, Soft Sage, and the other called, Shocking Pink.  Both are Red Heart, both are Worsted Weight 4ply yarn, BUT the sage color is slightly softer and thinner than the Shocking Pink.  So the finished squares did come out different in size. NOT by much, but when comparing 2 of these squares, the green comes out a bit smaller.  So keep this in mind when choosing your colors if you plan on using more than one color.

There is a theme going on here as well.  "SYMBOLS OF LIFE"  That is what this one is going to called.  Each square will have a subtle design in them that is a symbol of some type of hope, love, faith, honor, and so on.

People have asked me in the past with these types of crochet a longs about what color choice is best.  I have always told them that think of the theme of the square, example is the theme flowers?  Then you would want to use a flowery color maybe.  Think about whether this is a gift for someone.......choose colors they like.  Think of what room this lapghan will be used in.

I will say this about the color choices for this one.......you can use any color you want........BUT I think a solid color will work the best for these squares.  I think a variegated might take away from the actual design.  This is just my opinion though.

Want to know how this will work?  Well Starting Monday, November 05th, 2012 I will send out instructions by email.....no pictures!  Patterns will be sent out in PDF form.  One pattern will be sent out on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  By the end of the month, you will have 12 squares you can make into a lapghan, or add more squares to make a nice afghan.

These patterns will be offered up free online later on.

If you want to join this Mystery Crochet a long.  Please send me an email at Bluedragonflymom@yahoo.com   Please include your email address of where you want the crochet a long emailed to.  Please be informed by requesting to join this, you are agreeing to NOT share the patterns with anyone,  you agree not to post the patterns online or anywhere else.  Remember this is a Mystery, and although I will be posting the patterns for free online at a later time, does not mean I want it shared with everyone right now........I think Crochet a longs are fun, and we can get together "online/emails" and talk about it as we go along.

Material List:

~Worsted Weight yarn in solid color.  (I used Red Heart in two solid colors,  Roughly I used about 23oz of yarn.  Shocking Pink I used about 11.4 oz of yarn......and the Soft Sage I used about 11.4 oz of yarn.  I am using different colors for another lapghan.
~H hook
~Yarn needle to weave in ends
