12” Square with “H” hook and WW yarn.

• SPECIAL STS/NOTES: FPDC=Front Post Double Crochet: Worked “around” post of dc specified.  FPTC= Front Post Triple Crochet: Worked “around” post of dc specified.

Rnd 1: Ch4, Work 15DC in 4th ch from hook.  Join in top of ch4.  (16dc)

Rnd 2: IN same st as joining work, (Ch3, DC, Ch1, 2DC) BEG Corner made.  [+DC in one st, FPDC in next, DC in one st+. IN next st, work (2DC, Ch1, 2DC) CORNER made.]3Xs.  Repeat +to+ once then join in top of beg ch3. Always in pattern.  Slst in dc & ch1sp.  (28dc)  

Rnd 3: Beg Corner.  [+DC in 2sts, FPTC in 3sts, DC in 2sts+ Corner in ch1sp]3Xs.  Repeat +to+ once then join. Slst in dc & ch1sp.  (44sts)

Rnd 4: Beg Corner.  [+DC in 3sts, FPTC in 5sts, DC in 3sts+ Corner in ch1sp]3Xs.  Repeat +to+ once then join. Slst in dc & ch1sp.  (60sts)

Rnd 5: Beg Corner.  [+DC in 4sts, FPTC in 7sts, DC in 4sts+ Corner in ch1sp]3Xs.  Repeat +to+ once then join. Slst in dc & ch1sp.   (76sts)

Rnd 6: Beg Corner.  [+DC in 5sts, FPTC in 9sts, DC in 5sts+ Corner in ch1sp]3Xs.  Repeat +to+ once then join. Slst in dc & ch1sp.    (92sts)

Rnd 7: Beg Corner.  [+DC in 8sts, FPTC in 7sts, DC in 8sts+ Corner in ch1sp]3Xs.  Repeat +to+ once then join. Slst in dc & ch1sp.    (108sts)

Rnd 8: Beg Corner.  [+DC in 11ts, FPTC in 5sts, DC in 11sts+ Corner in ch1sp]3Xs.  Repeat +to+ once then join. Slst in dc & ch1sp.    (124sts)

Rnd 9: Beg Corner.  [+DC in 14sts, FPTC in 3sts, DC in 14sts+ Corner in ch1sp]3Xs.  Repeat +to+ once then join. Slst in dc & ch1sp.   (140sts)

Rnd 10: Beg Corner.  [+DC in 17sts, FPTC in next, DC in 17sts+ Corner in ch1sp]3Xs.  Repeat +to+ once then join.  (156sts) Fasten Off

You might find this square tends to “curl” or “buckle” I think once it’s put in with an afghan it should be fine.
