12” Square with “H” hook and WW yarn in one or two colors.

NOTES: Items in bold will be repeated in pattern.“Sts”=stitches means any dc or ch1sp.

Rnd 1: Ch4, Work 15dc in 4th ch from hook.  Join in top of ch4.  (16dc)

Rnd 2: Ch3, Dc in joining. [Fpdc in dc, 2dc in next dc]7x.  Fpdc ar last st. Join in top of beg ch3.   (24sts)

Rnd 3: Ch1, fpdc ar joining st. Fpdc ar next st. [2dc in next fp st, fpdc ar next 2sts]7x.  2dc in last st.  Skip ch1 & join in top of first fpdc.  (32sts)

Rnd 4: Ch3.  Dc in 2sts. [Fptc ar fp st of rnd 2. Dc in 4sts]7x.  Fptc ar last fpdc of rnd 2.  dc in next st.  Join in the back loop (BL) of beg ch3. (40sts)

Rnd 5: Ch1, Sc in joining.  *Sc in the front loop (FL) of next dc, sc in the BL of next dc* Repeat around ending with a sc in FL of last dc.  Join in the unused loop in front & below your 1st sc.  (40sts)

Rnd 6: Ch1, sc in joining. *Ch3. (Behind work) dc in unused loop of rnd 4.  Ch3, (Going in front of work) sc in unused loop of rnd 4.*  Repeat around ending with a dc in unused loop of rnd 4 (behind work).  Ch3, Join in first sc.  (20sc, 20dc, 40ch3 lps)

Rnd 7: Slst in next loop. Back post slst ar next dc.  Ch5 (counts as dc & ch2) *Bpdc ar next dc, ch2.*  Repeat around.  Join in 3rd ch of beg ch4, pulling through new color.  Fasten off color 1.

Rnd 8: Ch3, dc, ch1, 2dc in joining (BEG corner made)  [ +(2dc in next loop, dc in dc)4x.  2dc in next loop+. IN next dc, work corner of 2dc, ch1, 2dc. ]3x.  Repeat ++ once & join.  (72dc) Slst in dc &  corner ch1sp.

Rnd 9: Beg corner.  [+Dc in 5sts, Ch1, skip-1, dc in 6sts, ch1, skip-1, dc in 5sts+. Corner in ch1sp.]3x. Repeat ++ once & join.  (80dc, 12ch1sp) Slst in dc & ch1sp.

Rnd 10: Beg corner.  [+ (Ch1, skip-1, dc in next st)4x.  Dc in 7sts, (Ch1, skip-1, dc)3X.  Ch1, skip-1.+ Corner in corner ch1sp.]3x.  Repeat ++ once & join. (72dc, 40ch1) Slst in dc & ch1sp.

Rnd 11: Beg corner.  [+Dc in one st, (Ch1, skip-1, dc)4x.  Dc in 9sts, (Ch1, skip-1, dc)4X.+ Corner in corner ch1sp]3x.  Repeat ++ once & join.  (88dc, 40ch1) Slst in dc & ch1sp.

Rnd 12: Beg Corner.  [+ (Ch1, skip-1, dc)5X. Dc in 11sts. (Ch1, skip-1, dc)4X. Ch1, skip-1,+ Corner in corner ch1sp]3X.  Repeat ++ once & join.  (96dc, 48ch1) Slst in dc & ch1sp.

Rnd 13: Beg corner.  [+Dc in one st, (Ch1, skip-1, dc)5X.  Dc  in 13sts, (Ch1, skip-1, dc)4x. Ch1, skip-1, dc in next st,+ Corner in corner ch1sp.]3x. Repeat ++ once & join. (112dc, 48ch1) Slst in dc & ch1sp.

Rnd 14: Ch1, 3sc in corner ch1sp.  [Sc in 38sts, 3sc in corner ch1sp.]3x.  Sc in last 38.  Join to first sc. (164sc) Fasten off
