“Mini Windmill Hotpad”

H hook and WW Cotton yarn. Coaster measures about 4” side to side.
This pattern was designed with small bowls and pans in mind. Ever want to take a bowl of soup with you to watch tv, but it was too hot to hold? well use one of these "mini" hotpads and you are set! Keep your hands free of burns.
Back:
Rnd 1: Ch4, work 11DC in 4th ch from hook. Join in 3rd ch of beg ch4. (12dc)
Rnd 2: Ch3, DC in joining. 2DC in each dc around. Join in ch3. (24dc)
Rnd 3: Ch3, DC in joining. [DC in one st, 2DC in next st] Repeat around ending w/DC in last st. Join. (36dc)
Rnd 4: Ch1, SC in joining. Sc in 2sts, [+Ch1, DC in 3sts, Ch1,+ SC in 3sts] 5X. Repeat +to+ once & join to first sc. (18sc, 18dc, 12ch1sps)
Rnd 5: Ch1, SC in joining. 2SC in next sc, SC in next sc. [+Ch1, 2DC in next 3dc, Ch1+ SC in sc, 2SC in next sc, SC in next sc] 5X. Repeat +to+ once & join. (24sc, 36dc, 12ch1sps) Fasten Off.
Front:
Rnds 1 & 2: Work same as above.
Rnd 3: Ch1, SC in joining. SC in next st. [+Ch2, DC in 2sts, Ch2,+ SC in 2sts] 5X. Repeat +to+ once & join. (12dc, 12sc, 12sps)
Rnd 4: Ch1, SC in joining. SC in 1sc, [+Ch2, 2DC in next 2dc, Ch2,+ SC in 2sc] 5X. Repeat +to+ once & join. (12sc, 12sps, 24dc)
Rnd 5: Ch1, SC in joining. SC in 1sc, SC in sp, [+Ch2, 2DC in dc, DC in next 2dc, 2DC in dc, Ch2. SC in sp+ , SC in 2sc, SC in sp] 5X. Repeat +to+ once & join. (24sc, 36dc, 12ch2sps) DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
With wrong sides together, match up sts, Ch1, and working through both pieces, SC in same st as joining and each sc, sp, and dc around. Join to first sc. CH10, and slst into same st as joining. Fasten off and weave in ends.
