POPCORN DELIGHT 12" SQ

 

“Popcorn Delight” Designer: Aurora Suominen/DragonFlyMomof2 Designs©2009 Hook: H/5.0mm, Yarn: Worsted Weight, I used 2 colors: A & B,  Finished Size: 12in Sq (Size depends on your hook, yarn, & tension.You may need to add a round to bring your sq to size)    ______________________________________________________________ ~Abbreviations/Stitches Used: St(s)=Stitch(es): Include the following sts Rnd=Round              Beg=Beginning       Ch=Chain        Sc=Single Crochet Slst=Slip Stitch Sp(s)=Spaces            Sk=Skip Dc=Double Crochet   Tc=Triple crochet      PC=Popcorn           FP=Front Post _______________________________________________________________          ~Notes: Join: W/slst in beg st. Instructions between the [to] are repeated around. You can use a 4 or 5dc popcorn st.  I used a 5dc pc in this pattern

Rnd 1: W/A, ch4, work 11dc in 4th ch from hook,  join in top of ch4. (12dc)

Rnd 2: Ch3, dc, ch1, 2dc in joining st, beg corner made. [dc in next 2st, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next dc, corner made] Repeat around omitting the last corner and join, slst in next 2sts.  (24dc) 

Rnd 3: Beg corner. [(Sk) next dc & slst in next dc, 3dc in next 2sts, slst in next dc, skip next dc & work corner in ch1sp.] Repeat around omitting the last corner and join, slst in next 2sts. (40dc)  

Rnd 4: Beg Corner. [Dc in next st, sk 1 st, pc in slst, ch2, sk-1, sc in 4sts, ch2, sk-1, popcorn in slst, sk-1, dc in next st and work corner in ch1sp.]Repeat around omitting the last corner and join, slst in next 2sts.  (24dc, 8 popcorns, 16sc)  

Rnd 5: Beg Corner.  [Dc in 3sts, sk-pc, 2dc in ch2sp, slst in sc, 3dc in next sc, ch1, 3dc in next sc, slst in sc, 2dc in ch2sp, sk-pc, dc in 3sts, corner in ch1sp]Repeat around omitting the last corner and join, slst in next 2sts. (80dc) 

Rnd 6: Beg corner.  [Dc in next st, (ch1, sk-1, dc)3x, ch2, sk-4sts, sc in ch1sp, ch2, sk-4sts, dc in next st, (ch1, sk-1, dc)3x, corner in ch1sp.] Repeat around omitting the last corner and join, slst in next 2sts.  (48dc, 4sc)  

Rnd 7: Beg corner.  [Sk-1, pc in next dc, sk-1, dc in sp, (ch1, sk-1, dc in sp)2x.  Slst in next dc, 5dc in sp, slst in next sc, 5dc in sp, slst in dc, dc in next sp, (ch1, sk-1, dc in sp)2x.  Sk-1, pc in next dc, sk-1, corner in ch1sp] Repeat around omitting the last corner and switch to B w/slst to join, slst in next 2sts. (80dc)  

Rnd 8: Beg corner.  [Dc in 9sts, ch2, sk-5sts, sc in slst (between 5dc groups). Ch2, sk-5sts, dc in 9sts, corner in ch1sp.] Repeat around omitting the last corner and join, slst in next 2sts. (88dc, 4sc) 

Rnd 9: Beg corner.  [(Ch1, sk-1, dc)5x, ch1, sk-1, 3dc in ch3sp, fptc in sc two rows below, 3dc in ch3sp,  (Ch1, sk-1, dc)5x, ch1, sk-1, corner in ch1sp] Repeat around omitting the last corner and join, slst in next 2sts. (80dc, 4tr)  

Rnd 10: Beg corner.  [Ch1, sk-2dc, dc in 14sts, pc in tc, dc in 14sts. Ch1, sk-2dc, corner in ch1sp]Repeat around omitting the last corner and join, slst in next 2sts.  (128dc) Slst over to corner ch1sp.

Rnd 11: Beg corner.  [Dc in 2sts, pc in chsp, dc in 29sts, pc in chsp, dc in 2sts.  Corner in ch1sp] Repeat around omitting the last corner and join, Fasten off.  (148dc)
