NOTES: Bolded print is repeated in pattern. “Sts”=stitches means any st or ch sps.

Rnd 1: Ch4, work 11dc in 4th ch fr hook, join in top of beg ch4. (12dc)

Rnd 2: Ch3, 2dc in same dc.  [Ch1, skip a dc, 3dc in next dc] 5x.  Ch1 & join to top of first ch3.  (18dc & 6 Ch1 sps)

Rnd 3: Ch3, 2dc in same dc.  1dc in next dc, 3dc in next dc.  [Ch2, skip ch1sp, 3dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, 3dc in next dc]5x.  Ch2, skip ch1sp & join. (42dc & 6 ch2 sps)

Rnd 4:  Skip 1dc, [+5dc in next dc, slst in next dc, 5dc in next dc. Skip a dc, slst in next dc, sc in ch2sp.+  Slst in next dc, skip 1dc]5x. Repeat +to+ once. DO NOT JOIN.  (6 hearts: 60dc)

Rnd 5:  [+Ch4, sc in slst between heart humps, Ch4+, sc in sc between next 2 hearts]5x.  Repeat +to+ once & join in first sc. (push heart humps in front of the chains) (12sc & 12 ch4 spaces)

Rnd 6: Ch3, 2dc in same st. [+Ch1, 3dc in ch4 sp, 1dc in next sc, 3dc in next ch4 sp.  Ch1+, 3dc in next sc]5x. Repeat ++ once & join.  (60dc, 12chsps)

Rnd 7: Ch3, 2dc in same st, 1dc in next st, 3dc in next st. [+Ch2, skip ch1sp, dc in 7sts.  Ch2,  sk-sp,+  3dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 3dc in next st)5x. Repeat ++ once & join.  (84dc,12chsps)

Rnd 8: Skip 1dc,  [+5dc in next dc, slst in next dc, 5dc in next dc. Skip a dc, slst in next dc, sc in next 9STS.+  Slst in next st, skip one st]5x. Repeat ++ once.  DO NOT JOIN. (60dc, 54sc)

 

Rnd 9:  [+Ch4, Sc in slst between the heart humps.  Ch4, sk-hh, sk-slst, Sc in next sc.

(Ch4, sk-3sc, sc in next sc+) twice. ]5X. Repeat ++ once, ch4 & join in the sc of your first ch4.  (24 Ch4 spaces & 24sc) If using a 2nd color, change here.

Rnd 10: Ch3, dc, ch2, 2dc in same st, beg corner made.  [+3dc in next ch4sp, 1dc in next sc, 3dc in next ch4sp, (Sc in next sc, 3sc in next ch4sp)twice.  Sc in next sc, 3dc in next ch4sp, dc in next sc, 3dc in ch4sp+.  In next st, work 2dc, ch2, 2dc corner made.]3x.   Repeat ++ once & join.  (72dc, 36sc) Slst over to ch2sp. 

Round 11: Beg corner in ch2sp.  [Dc in 27sts, work corner in ch2sp.]3x.  Dc in last 27sts & join.  (124dc)  Slst over to ch2sp.  

Round 12:  Beg corner.  [Dc in 31sts, corner in ch2p]3x.  Dc in last 31sts & join.  (140dc) FO
