Designing Fool?

Well I have been crocheting for about 12 years, and have been testing on and off for about a year or two.....and the other night I was doing 12" square for a wish in a group I am in.....I could not find another pattern I wanted to work, so thought, "hey, why not just make one up as I go" sounded easy!!! Really, the first one was pretty easy......only frogged a row or two a few times.........but I hate............HATE writing that out......time consuming and man are my fingers cramped up!! LOL Anyway I did this top one, and you can't really see too many of the details, I might try to do it again with a lighter color...I did my first one in Watercolor, then red.......and then the Raspberry, the only reason I worked with these colors, is because Carole wanted 12" in Watercolor and light purple, did the purple ones already, and the red and raspberry.........well frankly I was too lazy to walk into the bedroom and go through all those totes full of yarn to find one best to photograph. LOL ok so I got it done, 3 of them, and corrected the few errors I saw on the pattern, and will ask for testers soon.

So my design kick was in full force...........I wanted to make a smaller square, and had been wanting to design on with dragonflies for a long time. I was thinking of my boys and how I really want something that represents them to me in crochet........I love dragonflies, call them my dragonflies......So I wanted to make one.....but wanted it to be a bit different as my boys are unique.....to me anyway! LOL

So here is the 7" square.........it has two dragonflies one two sides and a shell stitch on the other two sides, reminds me of waves, so maybe a name change might be in order......Dragonfly Waves? umm not sure, but I had more of a challenge with this one..........man!!!!! I frogged the whole thing so many times.........drove me batty............I was determined and then frustrated when I had to stop.........had to take my mom to the dr, and Aiden and I dropped her off and had lunch, he was so darn cute the whole time, got back to the drs, and then AJ calls from the neighbors house.............he was home.........omg I felt horrible!!! I lost track of time, I was so use to my mom having late drs appts, that it just didn't seem that time! So we went to see if my mom was done and tell her I was going to get AJ, and she was pretty much done, just waiting on her prescriptions. So off we went to get AJ, and home again so I could drive myself crazy. LOL Finally got it done and printed out the pattern from my handwritten notes............SEVERAL of them.........LOL

Then redid the square in a light blue..........I am really proud of this square...........one because I made it with my boys in mind......this is dedicated to them..........two.....it did come out really pretty.......and I don't really say that too much about my work....I don't brag, but this just really meant a lot to me to design this. Found a few errors in pattern, but will correct them and rest a bit.

Super Mario!

Well I finished this yesterday, and took pictures of him........I found this ami mario pattern here. Aiden loves the game Super Mario.........and when I saw this pattern I had to have it for him. I have made several Pokemon for AJ, and needed things to make for Aiden. Well the pattern called for brown felt for the moustache and side burns and the white emblem on his hat, but I didn't want to use them since this was for Aiden, so I just crocheted them, and used black yarn for the "M" I think it came out really cute......... and Aiden really freaked when he saw it today, his whole face lit up and he kept hugging Mario and rubbing him on his face and saying he loved it, Mario is now in "bed" sleeping!!!

Mario

I have started on a Super Mario ami for Aiden, he loves this game, so when I saw this pattern on Etsy, I had to have it for him. I started it last night, and have his ears, nose, arms and suspenders done, but got too tired, I had to run to wally world today to get yellow buttons.....so I will finish him tonight and surprise Aiden with him.

In fact I have to run and clean up now......I lost all track of time.

6 Pictute

I got tagged by Caroline, her blog is the Kansas Hooker so here is the 6th picture from my 6th folder........this is Austin during his 5th grade graduation!! I think the school did a very cute thing here. I remember Austin's kindergarten graduation. So cute, and emotional to see him "graduate" elementary school, and now in Middle school. He is doing so well in Middle school much better than elementary school.....I have to brag here..........because I am just so PROUD of him....he is getting an perfect score in Social Studies and Technology......So far since the beginning of his 6th grade, he has gotten a perfect score, 100% on every test and paper from Social Studies, he absolutely loves history!! He takes after me! He is getting As in all his other classes currently except math, still a C there, but doing better and working hard to improve that grade.

Meet the "Egg Heads"

I did this last week, and I I think it's cute. from Left to Right, "meet" Austin, me, and Aiden.........how cute are they...........I bought this pattern from Etsy, and Aiden loves it, he keeps telling us those are us. LOL

I am working on some squares for the Victory Junction Gang Camp. I only signed up for 4 swaps this month, and will slow down next month, don't think I will sign up in March, as I have three packages that need to go out by then

Tired and Frustrated

Aiden has been sick for some time now...first it started in December with him having a nasty cold, to the point that his lips would swell up and break open. I have never seen his lips swell up so much. Anyway it seemed to go away, but then came back within a week, and I just thought that it never really went away, just eased up and was finishing out its' course....well it kept coming back and we are into January and still the symptons of a cold, and fever persist....so I took him and they said he had a sinus infection and gave him medicine to take twice a day for 10 days. Well a week later, it got worse....this time a nasty cough, I mean he was coughing constantly it seemed, and he would be up most of the night miserable trying to breathe and not cough so much.......so back to the dr, and they ruled out asthma. Gave him more medicine saying his nose was draining down the back of the throat. Ok after a few days he seemed to be getting better......last night he fell asleep around 9 but woke up an hour or so later, feeling ok....but saying he was tired......so I finally went to bed, and he tossed and turned and would cry a bit, so he came and laid down with me, and every so often he would stiffen up, shake and cry a bit......I just didn't realize the time, but it was 5 am!! So I turned on the light and asked him if anything hurt, he said his ear did and was pulling at it.....so gave him some tylenol and he still could not get to sleep, so I let him get up and he had some cereal......and cried some more......but finally fell asleep after 7 am!!! YEP you read that right.....neither of us got to sleep until after 7 am this morning......got up around 11, he got up about an hour after that, feeling fine....no pulling at his ear.....but I will see how it goes tonight. I am so tired my eyes are a blur. LOL I am making chicken noodle for dinner as we all seem to have the crud......

I am almost done with my Egg Heads....I have "me" done and the boys......just to do the wall and grass now, which I will get to tonight. I tested two patterns for Tiffany last night and they are really cute, will post pictures soon, once I ask her if its ok.

So hopefully tonight will be better. The weather says we might get a bit of snow.....I want more than a "bit" LOL

Crocheting my Way Into Sanity!!

I did this snowman potholder for a lady in Crochet Swap Buddies, Margaret. I asked her if she wanted a functional one or a decorative one. She chose a decorative one. Looking at this picture I realized I forgot his nose!! LOL

In Margarets box, was the snowman potholder, the Min pin Ami dog and some 12" squares, I thought she would like this flower girl! She did, and she did come out really cute.

In my group, Amigurumi Swaps & More, I had a "Guess what I am" challenge, and April won the challenge, the prize was an ami of my choice, and she could choose WW yarn, or Cotton Yarn, and she chose the cotton yarn in bright colors, these were the only colors considered "bright" that I could find........I knew she like Food Ami's, and originally I made a half dozen of eggs in a carton, but it was "taken" So I made this sundae/cheesecake I really liked how this came out, and so did everyone in my family, but I was not going to make anything else. LOL April got the package today and she liked it too. She has it on a cake plate.......looks really yummy on there.

Here are 20-6" squares that I sent to Carol for the Victory Junction Gang Camp. The charity is being hosted in Crochet_Swaps_Galore January and February. I will be sending her another set of 20. I am doing bright yellow and orange for this round. If anyone reading this would like to donate squares let us know. they are looking for 6" or 12" squares in bright "primary" colors.......I know this charity is also being done on Crochetville, so you can also check it out there.

My Saturday went pretty good..........We all went out to Chinese for lunch and had a nice lunch, even my mom got out to go too......even though it was bitterly cold out!! At least the wind was not blowing as much as yesterday. We came home and I got caught up online and then after awhile started getting dinner ready, we had homemade fried rice and egg rolls, Aiden loves rice! LOL A friend came over for awhile and took my thread yarn to get some colors for a cross-stitch project he is doing. Which makes me want to get out some projects that have been on the back burner for quite some time now.

I also got my closet cleaned out.........which I have been putting off for a few weeks now........finally decided tonight to get it done, one less thing for me to worry about.

Horses

We had this cake tonight.......Scott did a great job making this cake.....it came out really cute.....they had horse shoes too.  Online baking classes should also be able to teach you how to make specialty cakes such as this one.  I had to take my mom to the drs today and that was a couple of hours, but I took my yarn and worked on some crochet..After we got home, Amanda called wanting us to come over for cake and ice cream. Her father was suppose to do this cake on her birthday back in October, but he dragged his feet. LOL He had been planning and planning this cake for awhile......so he was pretty proud and happy to have finally gotten it done.........now he seems to be in a cake mood, wanting to do more. LOL

2nd Post tonight

this is my goofy son, Austin.......before his hair cut...I had told him that I didn't mind him wanting to grow his hair long, but my rule was that he needed to comb it...........but time and time again, he would wake up with a very messy hair do, and never comb it. So today on our way to the post office I told him I loved what he did with his hair, which was nothing.....and that we were going to Wal-Mart to get his hair cut, and he agreed.........LOL he said he got tired of it getting in his ears, and it was getting caught on his glasses.......which btw I don't like.......I do not know why he chose those particular frames.

My Austin after the hair cut......I think he looks much better. He goes back to school tomorrow........it will be a short week, but I will get some quiet time!!!

MY little goofy Aiden wearing his brothers glasses.......how cute is this? He is sick too, been ongoing for a month now.....finally last week I took him in, and he has a sinus infection, so they sent us home with medicine to take for 10 days. but last night he was miserable, I mean he coughed so hard and so much all night..........ALL NIGHT!! I felt so bad for him. he cried and his little throat hurts...........and then this morning he woke up screaming......he scared me saying his food hurt and he was screaming and crying like something was really hurting him...........I did a full body check...........I was thinking he got bit by a spider or something..........but I think he just slept on his foot wrong. He was tossing and turning so much. He is better.......or rather not crying.......he was tired all day and played but not his usual self.................hopefully the night will be better, he doesn't seem to be coughing as much.

Recent Crochet

I did this amigurumi Belle last week, she was to be a bday gift for someone in a group with me, but my mom liked her so much, that I let her have her. LOL So now I have to make something else. I loved doing this doll, but did not like doing the hair. LOL

Aiden and I Day!!

Wednesday Aiden and I had our own day together.....it's Winter Wednesdays at the Zoo, which means I only pay 2 dollars for myself to get in...so I wanted to take Aiden. Austin was in school and the night before was non too happy about me going to the zoo with Aiden, but I pointed out to him all the things he has and still gets to do that Aiden doesn't.........and how I want to have that one on one time with both of them, and since he is in school I want that time with Aiden......so anyway the above picture is a favorite of mine.......Aiden loves to touch my face...........and I was trying to get a picture of him and I on my phone........this was at lunch after the zoo.........well when I saw how this came out, I loved it!! its so precious how he touches my face.

This time I got him looking.......he loves to have his picture taken.............

My little Aiden in front of live gorillas!!!! ok......they are statues......but how cute is this shot.........I had to take three just to get him to look at the camera.....he was getting attention from onlookers, so he was paying attention to them instead of me. LOL

He finally looked as the camera was ready to shoot!! FINALLY!! I won't tell you how many times I tried for this shot. They apparently are a lot.........A LOT like kids. LOL

That is a train juice box Aiden got from the snack bar.......it was really cute, and I knew once he saw it, he was going to want it.

Aiden loved the bears.......we had to go back 3 times to see them..........they were huge!!!!

Today has been a so so day.........but it will get better I am sure........I took the boys to lunch, and Aiden feels better, no fever and his thumb looks better......he cut his finger last night in the bath with a razor, that had been behind the shampoo........I just didnt' get to him in time..........it bled a lot...........but I got neosporin on it and a bandaid, which to him was worse............he DOES NOT LIKE BANDAIDS. but once he realized I was not going to take it off, he was ok with it.........we just bought him Nemo bandaids today from Wal-Mart.

Update Update UPDATE!!

I am getting really bad about updating my blog........myspace too........LOL Ok well that is the life of a mother.....this mother anyway.......man its been hectic around here lately.....but I will update with Christmas............we had a great Christmas, Aiden and I above that was taken Christmas day.........he along with Austin were very happy that morning.......Christmas Eve we baked cookies and hung around, watched the Polar Express........The boys tried to get around the fact that they had to go to bed..........once they actually got into bed, they were fast asleep.........I made sure too. LOL So my mom and I got the gifts out and under the tree, and ended up having to use two of their stockings..........Anyway we got pictures of the tree before everything was destroyed by the kids.

Austin and Aiden both really loved everything they got......and I had fun watching them tear through everything........

Here the two of them are opening presents.............Aiden was like a little mad man......tearing them open like crazy........Austin had quite a few that we taped up in boxes......so he had "fun" opening them!!!

Crochet Update

My crochet has taken a back seat lately..........I have not been in much of a crochet mood lately. This Yoda was done last week. Austin wanted me to do one for a friend of his. I think he came out really cute and I forgot to take a picture of the back of him, but he has a hat on his robe........Brett really liked him. Austin was so happy that I made this for Brett and wants one for himself too.

Ok the dark brown does not show up very well.......or rather too dark, but this is Sackboy......we could not find grey felt to make a "zipper" or a zipper head, so we just bought a zipper and cut it down and put it on............This was also made for a Christmas present from Austin to Brett, and I also have to make one for Austin too. It came out cute, but I did not like making this pattern. the head and body are done in two pieces then sewn together. It came out really cute and the designer did an amazing job, as he looks very much like the "real" character.

This is called the Flower Power square designed by SmoothFox, Donna..........she really does an awesome job with designing squares.

I also tested this square for her as well, which she is calling the Coral Square becuase she used the Coral color........I used pink raspberry, but really liked this square too. She is looking for a name.

Cold, Warm, Cold, Warm and Cold AGAIN

Here is Austin out playing in the snow the other day, of course that snow is gone now as we got a lot of rainy/misty warm weather yesterday. It was warm today, but apparently the temperatures will fall again tomorrow and Sunday very cold. Austin will be gone this weekend, going to the Great Wolf Lodge. I will miss him.

Little Aiden out playing in the snow. He loved it, He loves throwing snow balls, but does NOT like snow on his face, and who would? LOL He had a lot of fun out playing in the snow.

I finally got started on a Star Wars afghan for Aiden........his will be a bit different than Austins, I will be changing the colors around, and his will be smaller for now. I will add more to it.......these are the first two squares crocheted together. Aiden is so happy I am making it for him, he keeps checking on my progress and saying he can't wait for his blanket.

Guess what these are??? well?????? ok ok, these are Yoda parts!! LOL I made them tonight, and will sew him together tomorrow. Austin wanted this for a gift for someone. I will probably also make one for him and Aiden as well.

Today was better than yesterday..........I had to take mom to the dr today and we didn't get home until about 6 and Austin had basketball practice tonight too..........It was so warm today, but tomorrow they say the temperature will fall drastically. Anyway Aiden took a magnet and rubbed it on our T.V. Screen, and now there is a color distortion.......I hope it fades.

I am going to get to bed, I took some pain pills tonight, My head and back hurt.

Bitterly Cold! Buuurrrrr!!

Friday morning Austin woke up really sick........I had a feeling he was getting sick, as he was sleep walking during the night, and that usually happens when he is either really tired or sick.......he had coughed and gagged all during the night......so I told him he was not going to school, and he spent most of the morning in the bathroom, and then finally he was able to get some sleep............he was in bed all day. By Saturday he was feeling better, and it was warm and windy day..........I had to run some errands with a friend, then came home and got my father and Aiden and we all went to lunch, and then to Wally world to pick up a few things, off to take Barbara home and home ourselves.

I tried to crochet.......shhhh!! but my hand was still hurting.....

This morning was warm too, but the temperatures drastically fell through the day, its now like 12 degrees out.........cold cold cold............falling ice, and a few flurries too. Aiden had fallen asleep on the living room floor, so I went to pick him up to get his PJS on, and he threw up all over him, me and the love seat...........:( so I got him in the bath and cleaned up, and then cleaned up the love seat and floor, and gave him some Emetrol......and then got him in bed, and it didn't take long for him to fall asleep, so hopefully he will sleep through the night with no more upset tummy. I hope!!

Anyway that really is about it............I guess this week will be about staying warm. I told Austin we could make cookies and brownies when he gets home from school, so he is looking forward to that.

I finished this Christmas Angel Crinoline Doily for a crochet-a-long in a group. She came out really pretty, this is the one I used the pearl size 5 thread.

I started this "Holly and Berries" crinoline doily for the same CAL and I can't crochet anymore right now.....my right hand is swollen and hurting something awful. So I am taking break from crocheting for awhile..........it feels like someone took a hammer and smashed my hand.

I sent this stuff to a Secret Sister, Minday......I hope she likes it.
